Lazy Capitalization or Humility?

Well, it's not really that deep. I received a message from someone "i love you" and normally being the horrible controlling editor that I am, the lowercase "i" stuck out to me like a sore pinky.

It made me wonder (after a brief moment of warm fuzziness):
1) Why wasn't it punctuated properly? You learn all this in freakin' grammar school.
2) Why am I making such a big deal? I get lazy in my texting sometimes, I don't want to hit the "shift" button. Too much work.
3) Why do we capitalize "I" as an identifier anyway?

The way words are capitalized express an idea of importance.

I love you - so does that mean (from a recipient standpoint) you think you are great and superior and deserve the big "I" whereas I'm inferior with the lowercase "you". Or maybe you are the strong one protecting me in this love of ours.

i love you - looks kinda timid versus the one above, don't you think? But now, they're equal!

i love You - whoa, this person worships me or vice versa depending on which direction it's going...

I love You - who's You? Is there something you should be telling me...

Just a little tickle in my mind after being home for a few days in a row. It's good to get out - tomorrow I shall. Maybe even give that virtual running buddy a try. It could be a great idea.

Start a website where people who like to run/exercise while interacting with others can sign up for an account. They'd be issued a "calling number" - they can choose the people they're connected with or random strangers just to meet people. You could chatting with someone from the other side of the world, same town, down the street. You'd never have to meet them. Unless you wanted to. All safe. All through the phone - and if it doesn't work out, hang up and try again.
